AHA BLS Provider Licensing

American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider Course Details:
The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

Preparing for the Course

Before starting the BLS Provider Licensing Process, it is highly recommended that you purchase the American Heart Association BLS Provider Manual to help ensure your success in the class. This manual is available in both digital and hard copy formats.  Please visit the AHA products page to purchase:

Step 1:

To start the licensing process please visit this link to purchase and complete the online BLS Heart Code Class.  Cost: $34.00  (Product # 20-3553): https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-bls

Once you complete the online class you will be able to print out a certificate of completion which you must bring to your CPR/AED Skills Test.

Step 2:
You will need to meet with an AHA BLS Instructor for a Skills Practice Session and Test.  The practice and test session should take no more that 75 minutes if you have prepared and reviewed the study material provided 
To schedule an in person Skills Practice and Test with an
AHA BLS Instructor please call or email the contact info below.
You will need to complete an AHA BLS Provider Skills Test for Adult and Pediatric CPR.
Upon completion of your Skills test you will receive your AHA BLS Provider Card in an email link sent directly from the American Heart Association.  If you do not receive the link within 5 days of completing your Skills Test, check your Junk Mail.  If you still cannot locate your card link, please call or email the info below.

Practice/Skills Test Details:
During this session you will be given hands on CPR/AED training with an AHA BLS Instructor.  This session will prepare you for your test and answer any questions you may have about the material.  You will be tested on Adult and Pediatric CPR.  Please review the skills testing sheets that will be used to grade your skills test by clicking the links below:
